And let's not forget the Bramley apple, HP Sauce, Ibuprofen, the Raleigh Chopper, shin guards, and MRI scanning, all originated from Nottinghamshire.

Scores of Martin's lived and worked here, many ordinary framework knitters, textile workers, agricultural workers, miners railway workers, shoemakers etc, but a few who rose to be doctors or solicitors etc.I have currently 28 family trees (of various lengths) of Martins in Nottinghamshire, mostly sent to me by people I have approached, and mostly dating from 1800 onwards.  They mention the following places in Notts, Basford, Beeston, Bilborough, Bullwell, Burton Joyce, Eastwood, Hucknal, Kirkby in Ashfield, Lambley, Nottingham, Nuthall, Radford, Selston, Shelford, Sheldon, Strelley, Trowell, Wollaton.

If you have Martin ancestors that lived in Notts. and you would care to let me have names, dates, places etc, I would look if I can find a match and let you have details, including the name and address of the person supplying the original information

Many Notts Martin families had members who came here from the surrounding Counties. I also currently hold many family trees of Martin in Derbyshire, and would be pleased to also share these .
